'An exciting place to learn, an exciting place to be.'

Vernon Park Arts

An arts week was held to celebrate the school’s centenary. Each key stage formed new classes with a mix of children from each year group. Over the week several pieces of art were produced which are now on display around the school, both inside and outside. The art produced was mostly made by re-using and recycling materials.

The children wove a huge sunrise through the chainmail fence to brighten up the environmental area using recycled plastic bags.

Every child in the school wove, sewed and created a square. Each piece of art work contains 100 squares to celebrate the centenary. The materials used were all recycled. The children rag wove squares using old pieces of fabric.

A wooden mural was made of the local area using off cuts of wood. Can you spot what the viaduct is made out of?

The children used bottle tops to create a mosaic poetry wall to brighten up the playground.

The school commissioned a wood carver to carve an owl to represent the 100 years of learning at Vernon Park. It now sits in front of the seasons tree which the children made. Everybody contributed a leaf.
