Centenary Celebrations
Vernon Park Primary School celebrated its centenary in 2009 with a host of different events to mark the occasion. After a service at St Mary’s Church, Stockport, the school welcomed visitors, including some of the first Vernon Park pupils and lots of memories were shared. Mrs Wilson (Deputy Head) and Mrs Anthony (Teacher) cut the centenary cake. To celebrate 100 years of learning, a BBC producer helped the whole school make its very own DVD with children in Year 6 joining the film crew. The school’s history was researched and re-enacted. Everyone enjoyed reading extracts from the school’s log book, discovering what school life was like at Vernon Park 100 years ago. The DVD also captures all the celebrations which took place, including an Edwardian day and Arts Week. Copies of the DVD are available from the school office. |
